I got this e-mail today. Short of it is, if you're interested in sustainability at Western, there's a presentation on Friday at 9:30 you should be at. Long of it is below:
Hello Campus Sustainability Supporters!
This Friday, the WWU Board of Trustees will be presented with the 2008 WWU Campus Sustainability Report. Over 40 students researchers in the Campus Sustainability Planning Studio have been working on the report since fall quarter of '07 and now, at the end of fall quarter of '08 it is nearing completion. The baseline report looks at indicators of campus sustainability and describes current programs as well as opportunities to advance sustainability in academics, operations and outreach at WWU.
You can see the DRAFT report at: www.wwu.edu/sustain/sust-report/ (Note: Since this is still a draft, it is not for distribution. A final copy will distributed electronically at a later date.)
That said, I would like to cordially invite you all to a presentation of the Campus Sustainability Report to our Board of Trustees this Friday. You should be there for a few reasons:
1) Your sustainability efforts form the basis of the report. You made it happen and deserve recognition for your awesome work.
2) We need to demonstrate to the Board of Trustees our continual and passionate concern regarding sustainability issues. In this time of economic difficulty globally and on our campus, we have a chance to move from emergency to sustainability in ecology, equity, economics and human health. A packed house would show the Board how serious we are about sustainability and that we want WWU to take a national leadership role.
3) This is the first report of it's kind at WWU and will undoubtedly affect sustainability efforts from here on out.
I hope to see you ALL this Friday the 12th, at 9:30 in Old Main 340. We'll be done by 10:00 am. (Please be discreet when you come in as presentations may be in progress.)
LET'S PACK THE HOUSE! INVITE YOUR FELLOW CAMPUS SUSTAINABILITY SUPPORTERS!
Best,
Seth
