This is some information I got from AS Clubs.

I'm not interested in going to the kickoff, but if someone is they should do so. One thing to remember - whenever they talk about money they're not talking about us because we're a religious club.

I think it would be really sweet if one of our members at least applied to be on the inter-club council. Then we'd have an easier time arranging religious events like the one we're doing now.

· A.S. Club Kickoff: “Flavor of Clubs” – Fri., Oct. 24, 4pm – 8pm in the VU MPR
o Leaders around campus will get an opportunity to network, attend workshops, and enjoy a free meal! Learn how to get funds for programs and activities, recruitment and publicity techniques, and receive Budget Authority training. Any club who attends will be entered in a drawing to win $50!

o Good for returning clubs, newly forming clubs, or students who want to get involved now

o The Kickoff will end by 8pm so you can catch the live music in the Undergound Coffeehouse, or… do whatever it is you do on Friday nights (I’m not asking)

· HUGE News: This quarter, the Inter-Club Council will be forming ---- AND WE NEED REPRESENTATIVES! (like you!)
o Mission: To strengthen the Associated Students Club System by expanding and improving inter-club communication and the awareness of, and access to, resources within the A.S., and by serving as a representative voice in the process of developing new resources and services available to clubs.

o Who: one (1) or two (2) representatives from each of the 11 club categories. These reps must be active members in a current A.S. club.

o How to Apply: Read the “Quick Facts” document about the ICC [attached], and complete the attached ICC Rep application form. Then, return the form to Casey Hayden before October 27th at 5pm (slide it under my door, give to the 5th floor info desk, scan and email it, whatever works). Or, you can attend the AS Club Kickoff and apply in person!

I have RSVP'd for the event tonight. I will probably not have time to print out anything you send me, but I am pretty sure that they will have the necessary forms when I get there.

I will post a recap about what all happened later.

Ok, so I got to the Flavor of Clubs early and snagged a seat with The Free Thinkers Society, TRANSport (which is a new transexual awareness club), and the founder of Students for Clothing Optional (at least, I think that is what the club is called, basically nudist club). We started with an ice breaker exercise which allowed me to meet a friend of Tina and Katie's (who was there for Leos and for French club), though I don't remember her name (sorry).

Then we got down to the details of the Inter-Club Council:

Mission: inter-club communication and to ease resource & information dispersal, and to serve as a voice in the development of new resources and services.

Membership: 1 or 2 reps from each club category per school year.

This council is taking the place of the "Calling All Clubs" meetings, and hopefully will be a better approach.

Responsibilities: Attend the monthly ICC meeting. Facilitate one club category meeting per quarter, and serve on a subcommittee (which will have their own meetings responsibilities to fulfill).

I was the only person from the religious category that bothered to show up to this thing. And I was also the only one that showed up to the Inter-club Council session. While I was there, I pretty much got to know each of the people that will be selecting the representatives. So, right now I think I am looking pretty good for one of the two positions in our category. I think it will be a good opportunity for us to go beyond saying "Hey PAST is here," and portray us in a personal light, I have been wanting to get involved with the AS as a whole and I think this would be a good way to do it. I would love input, esp. if anyone thinks I shouldn't apply. So, please let me know before Monday (because that is when I will be turning in the application).

The first session I participated in was about recruiting and retaining members. There were lots of ideas (many of which are already being implemented at PAST, good job Jamie!), but I do have the handout if anyone wants to look at it.

Afterward there was pizza and I left early because we weren't allowed to be part of the cash and prizes drawing anyways. I did, however, pimp our club and events out to everyone. Including talking to all the cultural clubs about the upcoming inter-faith day of rest.

That is AWESOME. Way to go, *definitely* apply to the council.

Also, (and unrelated) was the person attending for the nudist club either a.) a shy girl named Esme, b.) a dark-haired girl named Janine, c.) a man in a dress named Zac, or d.) a tall skinny boy named Chris? Because I know pretty much all the people who cofounded the club, and several are dear friends.
